Artwork for a Cause
I had the amazing opportunity to create a piece for The Ocean Agency’s @glowinggone creative challenge in partnership with Pantone and Adobestock. I was interviewed and chosen for their manifesto kick off video. As a climate activist, this challenge was a perfect marriage of artwork and activism.
The Coral Color Artist Challenge
“Glowing corals are a highly visual sign of climate change — an attention-grabbing indicator that we’ve reached a tipping point for the planet. We’ve turned these warning colours into colours to inspire action that everyone can use.” - The Ocean Agency
Glowing, Gone.
It was important to me to evoke the feeling I had when watching @theoceanagency documentary @chasingcoral which informs the public on the coral crisis. An extremely emotion film where you go through the journey of seeing such undiscovered beauty, to realize it’s dying before your eyes. That the corals magical glow is its’s dying wish to be noticed.
To illustrate this, I created an individual diving deep to the discovery of something magical, only to have it dissolve upon their touch.
Because coral is the base of an entire ecosystem. Our entire animal kingdom will suffer with the dissolve of the coral. Therefore I drew not just coral particles - but the entire animal kingdom take flight.
Finally the main rock formation is of a skull, to further remind us, despite all this glowing beauty, death is in our presence.
Adobe Stock
A kick off video was created to promote artist to join the challenge, thanks to Adobe Stock + Pantone, the video was able to reach artists on a global scale. Submissions came to the Oceans Agency from everywhere - the next step was to show them off.
